InSites participated in the public engagement process and design of this Virginia Beach open space park. A unique feature of the design is the combination of three play nodes that encourage engagement with the forest and natural setting. There are opportunities for socialization, discovery, and interaction amongst the layers of the forest that can be explored and experienced within these nodes. The design also includes new parking areas, an open play field, and a large dog park with four fenced quadrants to allow for schedule rotation and landscape recovery. Enhancement of the site is accomplished through selective clearing, and introducing native trees and shrubs to diversify the forest canopy and understory.
